Film Ideas by Chris Osbyrne

Film Ideas

Idea 1- The film is about an alcoholic, biker-type widower who visits the grave of his wife every day and prays for her peace and that they may reunite in the afterlife. However, once he gets back home, he is visited by a 'being' claiming to be his dead wife, and wanting for the widower to join her in the afterlife, despite the widower not believing she is his ex-wife. Later, it actually is his wife and they reunite in the eternal darkness.

Similar films to it:

The Place Beyond the Pines- Directed by Derek Cianfrance

In terms of the plot, the films are not alike due to the second half of The Place Beyond the Pines shifting characters completely for another. However, the biker character, Luke, has similar motives and aspirations as the character in this film idea. Both want to reunite with the women they love despite it being impossible and both have a similar dark and rogue-like persona, even with the bike itself. This film is what inspired the look and personality of the character in my film idea.

Drive- Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn

Similarly to The Place Beyond the Pines, I also took inspiration from the protagonist of Drive. He, too, is a quiet, rogue-type character and aspires to being with a woman. In addition to this, I also can see my film ideas character wearing similar clothes and acting the same cold and distant way Ryan Gosling did in 'Drive'.

 Nightcrawler- Directed by Dan Gilroy

This film, on the other hand, adds creepier traits to the personality of the character I tried to create what with the filming because when my protagist meets the 'being' hitye films it immediately as ''proof for the authorities''. However, when filming, I would like to hint at the idea that he films the 'being' immediately not only as proof but also out of his enjoyment; much like Louis Bloom in Nightcrawler. The filming is almost fetishistic in how they shoot the video and also adds an element of distance between the protagonist and the 'being'.
