Evaluation of Results from Video Questionnaire

From assessing the results of our questionnaire, we have evaluated that the main plot and characters are considered to be ("original") and ("interesting") to our group of 17/18 year old respondents which means that we will continue with this as being our group project film. They also agreed with our group in that the audience our film should be aimed at people of their age ("15 and above") because of the serious nature of our film which wouldn't be appropriate for younger audiences.

The genre, for the most part, was what we were hoping they would say (that our film is more of a psychological thriller) except for the minor anomalous result who said it was a "drama" which it could arguably be due to their not being a complicated or enigmatic plot for the audience to decipher but more of a character study of a man and his ex-wife.

Our audience said they liked our film because of its themes ("religion"), its tone ("everything is not what it seems") and the narrative itself ("There's nothing really like it"). However, they all felt that there was room for improvement in our film in terms of the films character's development/motivations and making sure that the film is clear. To meet these improvements, we will be making some changes to the script and film idea to better convey the and why the characters are the way that they are. It will most likely result in cutting some scenes out and making the plot simpler, utilising flashbacks to build our protagonist and mind set.

Furthermore, we asked the respondents how they felt about adding children to the film and our chosen genre because we had some ideas about including a child in "VIRAGO". They all felt that including children in our film would not add to anything because it would depend on the films "context" and whether it was appropriate or not. We decided to not develop ideas of adding a child in to the film anymore based solely on this piece of feedback.

Overall, we feel this questionnaire was sucessful because we had the opportunity to learn more about how to appeal to our audience and in general find our whether our film is considered "good" and makes sense to peers.
